Fin 1907, alors que le nom de Santos-Dumont r\u00e9sonne depuis plus de 10 ans dans le milieu des a\u00e9ronautes et des a\u00e9rostiers, Alberto entreprend la construction d\u2019un petit monoplan \u00e0 di\u00e8dre important, qui sera vite surnomm\u00e9 \u201cDemoiselle\u201d, petite libellule au corps \u00e9lanc\u00e9 bleu, vert ou rouge. Ses caract\u00e9ristiques \u00e9taient :<\/p>

La structure triangul\u00e9e (Alberto \u00e9tait ami de Gustave Eiffel) est b\u00e2tie autour de 3 bambous, fournis par la bambouseraie d\u2019Anduze (Gard). Ses r\u00e9alisations firent grandir sa popularit\u00e9 aupr\u00e8s du public fran\u00e7ais mais aussi aupr\u00e8s des vedettes des meetings a\u00e9riens. Son aura augmenta d\u2019autant plus qu\u2019il offrait gratuitement les plans de ses avions \u00e0 ceux qui souhaitaient les construire. Ces appareils \u00e9taient d\u2019une incroyable maniabilit\u00e9, si bien qu\u2019ils devinrent \u00e0 leur tour les vedettes des exhibitions a\u00e9riennes que le public r\u00e9clamait.<\/p>

Le 1er Salon de la Locomotion A\u00e9rienne a lieu au Grand Palais du 25 septembre au 17 octobre 1909, et la \u201cDemoiselle\u201d y est expos\u00e9e sur le stand Cl\u00e9ment-Bayard. Elle eut un succ\u00e8s remarquable, 22 commandes furent enregistr\u00e9es au prix de 7 500F l\u2019unit\u00e9. Parmi les commandes, celle de Mr Roland-Garros. Lui, mais aussi Edmond Audemars ou Marcel Brindejonc des Moulinais, firent leurs premiers vols sur des \u201cDemoiselle\u201d.<\/p>

Apr\u00e8s l\u2019exp\u00e9rience de la reconstitution du Bl\u00e9riot XI ayant travers\u00e9 la Manche, notre intention est de reconstruire une r\u00e9plique pleinement op\u00e9rationnelle, et donc volante, aussi pr\u00e8s que possible des \u201cDemoiselle\u201d construites en 1910, dans une approche que l\u2019on peut qualifier d\u2019arch\u00e9ologie exp\u00e9rimentale. Ceci n\u2019exclue pas de s\u2019\u00e9carter de cet objectif, pour des consid\u00e9rations li\u00e9es \u00e0 la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 ou \u00e0 la disponibilit\u00e9. \u00c0 ce titre, aucun moteur d\u2019\u00e9poque n\u2019\u00e9tant plus disponible, nous avons pu b\u00e2tir le projet apr\u00e8s avoir retrouv\u00e9 un moteur Sarol\u00e9a, con\u00e7u vers 1920, moteur bi-cylindre \u00e0 plat de motocyclette, comme les moteurs avion\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, de poids et puissance comparables. Ce moteur est \u00e0 refroidissement par air, solution qui semble avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 adopt\u00e9e rapidement par Santos-Dumont avec le Darracq, peut-\u00eatre pour le gain de simplicit\u00e9 et de poids par rapport au Dutheil & Chalmers qui comportait des tubes de refroidissement sous les ailes.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

La structure est b\u00e2tie autour de 3 bambous, que nous avons pu obtenir aupr\u00e8s de la Bambouseraie Pra-France d\u2019Anduze : ce fut l\u2019occasion d\u2019apprendre qu\u2019en 1906-1907, Alberto Santos-Dumont s\u2019\u00e9tait pareillement fourni chez eux !<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00c0 partir de diff\u00e9rents plans trouv\u00e9s sur internet, dont principalement des plans dress\u00e9s en 1973 par M. Stemmel, un mod\u00e8le 3D a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 afin de conduire les travaux. Un dossier CNRAC a \u00e9t\u00e9 favorablement pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 \u00e0 la DGAC. Nous commen\u00e7ons la fabrication d\u2019une Demoiselle de pr\u00e9sentation statique, avant d\u2019entammer la fabrication d\u2019une r\u00e9plique volante.<\/p>
